Studying gender, style, and context through the lens of Estonian folk dance traditions

Madli Teller is a dance artist trained in choreography and ethnochoreology, with experience working with people of all ages and skill levels. In addition to leading teacher training courses in composition, she has taught dance history at Tallinn University and the EMTA School of Performing Arts. Her studies have focused on gender, style, and context in dance, particularly in Estonian folk dance.

From 2005 to 2014, as part of the core team of the dance theater Tee Kuubis, she specialized in site-specific performance projects that integrated architecture, cultural history, and non-formal education with movement. Today, she favors small and personal experiences over large-scale productions, embracing the communal over the national. She takes joy in watching people express themselves through dance however they see fit.
