Philosopher, avant-garde vocalist and improviser: Roomet Jakapi explores both thought and sound

Roomet Jakapi is an Associate Professor of History of Philosophy at the University of Tartu, specialising in Early Modern Philosophy and contemporary Philosophy of Religion. His PhD dissertation focused on the Irish idealist philosopher George Berkeley. Beyond academia, Roomet is an avant-garde vocalist and improviser, collaborating with notable free-improv musicians such as Fred Frith and Chris Pitsiokos. He has performed across Europe as a soloist, collaborator, and band member, with the UK magazine Jazzwise hailing him as a "highly alternative Bobby McFerrin". Roomet's unique blend of philosophical insight and musical innovation offers a compelling exploration of both thought and sound.
